Viralytics is developing a promising pipeline of Oncolytic Virotherapeutics for treating a wide range of cancer types. Clinical trials are currently being run to investigate the use of CAVATAK™ in humans to help treat melanoma, breast and prostate cancers. Clinical trials are conducted by medical practitioners as scientific research to investigate the trial drug as a future medicine.
Viralytics is now recruiting patients for our Late Stage Melanoma clinical trial in the USA.
ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01227551
We are currently running the following Phase 1 trials in Australia:
Stage IV solid tumour cancer patients bearing ICAM-1 are needed for the completion of our intravenous CAVATAK™ trial. Patients with stage IV solid tumor disease who are over 18 years of age and who have failed or refused standard treatment may be suitable for inclusion in the trial.
ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT00636558
Status: recruiting patients in Australia.
Sites: Redcliff Hospital, Qld and St George Hospital, Kogarah, NSW
Clinical Trials are conducted by medical practitioners as scientific research to investigate the trial drug as a future medicine.
PHASE I TRIALS: Initial studies to determine the safety, and the mode of actions of drugs in humans, the side effects associated with increasing doses, and to gain early evidence of effectiveness. These trials are conducted on volunteered subjects. Volunteers may include healthy participants and/or patients.
PHASE II TRIALS: These are clinical studies conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the drug for a particular indication or indications in patients with the disease or condition under study and to determine the common short-term side effects and risks.
PHASE III TRIALS: Expanded controlled and uncontrolled trials after preliminary evidence suggesting effectiveness of the drug has been obtained, and are intended to gather additional information to evaluate the overall benefit-risk relationship of the drug and provide and adequate basis for physician labeling.
Clinical trials are an important part of the development of new forms of treatment. Patients and care givers are referred to the ClinicalTrials.gov website for full details eligibility to participate in a trial, location of trials (trial sites) and contact information. The list of inclusion and exclusion criteria determines who can participate in a trial. Inclusion criteria are the conditions that must be met to participate; for example, over 18 years of age. Exclusion criteria are characteristics that the patient must not have in order to be included; for example, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. The criteria will be different for every trial.
